Facebook themselves says that its very keen on creating a platform that lets people share 360 degree videos and 3D videos. Then they would like to optimise these 360 degree videos for Virtual Reality Headsets for an immersive virtual reality experience
Lets think of how this will be useful to you. Think of your friend who is in an exotic location and she is holding something like a selfie stick and instead of a selfie he/she shoots 360 degree videos and publishes the same to their Facebook page. So you will be viewing a 360 degree view of what she is seeing on your Smartphone or on your VR headset/ Virtual Reality Headset which provides an immersive experience, instead of the current 2D pictures that are being shared on all our newsfeed.
You will be literally seeing what your friend just saw and Imagine of all that excitement. It would be amazing and our social networks will be really social.
Problems or Opportunities as we say
The problems is that the 360 degree cameras currently in market costs more than 300$ and are a bit expensive at the moment. The technology is still in its development stages and we could hope that they soon will be affordable as how computers and smartphones evolved through time. Once they does we could all see our friends posting terrfice 360 degree videos of many locations and honestly, I am a bit excited about this as I myself loves to travel.
More 360 degree videos
Redbull was one of the first companies to shoot and post a 360 degree video. It was a video on F1 racing and I saw it in youtube and now its embedded below.
